Top 3 Family Friendly Places to Visit in 2020
Hello and happy holidays! Today we are talking about our favorite destinations you should have on your list to visit with your family in 2020!
We had a hard time narrowing it down after visiting so many amazing places, but below are our top picks depending the type of vacation you’re looking for!
Mountain retreat: Lake Tahoe
We started our journey into “funemployment” with a month in Lake Tahoe last summer. If you’re like us and love picturesque mountains set against crystal clear water, this is your place. In the summer, we recommend getting out on the water with a boat rental, paddle board rental or sunset cruise. In the winter, there are 13 (13!) ski areas around the lake, and many have amazing views of the water from the hill. Our favorites are Heavenly, Alpine Meadows and Homewood. Get an Airbnb in Stateline if you want the best bargain or treat yourself by staying in one of the resorts near Incline Village! For more on what to do in Tahoe, check out our blog post here!
Big city: Paris
Paris was the first international destination of our trip and it did not disappoint! This is where Liesel fell in love with carousels and croissants. We fell in love with the numerous green spaces around the city. Our favorite thing to do was find a park and enjoy a picnic of wine and cheese while Liesel ran, played on the playground, or rode a carousel (they are EVERYWHERE in Paris!). If you want to make the trip more budget friendly, don’t be afraid to stay outside of the city center as long as it’s on the metro line. The metro makes everything very accessible and you can purchase a bulk pack of 10 metro passes for a discount when you arrive. Bonus: go check out the Eiffel Tower at night. It’s our favorite thing to do there! For more on Paris, check out our Paris recap here!
Best beach: Koh Lanta, Thailand
Ok, you had to know this one was coming. If you follow our adventures on Instagram, you most likely saw that we spent a month in this kid friendly paradise and had a hard time saying goodbye! So just what makes Koh Lanta such a great destination? Not only does it have a long stretch of amazing beaches down the western coast, but on those beaches are tons of restaurants and bars! You can eat dinner every night while watching the sunset with sand between your toes and never visit the same place twice. It’s busy without feeling overly built up. And lots of those beach front restaurants have toys and small slides or swings to keep the kids occupied. Stay in Khlong Dao, the sandiest beach with the gentlest break and visit Smile Beach and Rann’s often. You won’t regret it!
So there you have it. These are our top 3 choices for family holidays in 2020! What’s on your list?
