Bali with Kids! Meet Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali
We’re back! If you’ve been following us a while, you might recall that we visited Grand Mirage Family Paradise in January and were blown away by the kid-friendly amenities at this all-inclusive resort! So, when we planned our return trip to Bali, we of course wanted to stop by one of our favorite spots! Grand Mirage offers tons of kid- and family-friendly room options and this time, we got to stay in a pink dream of a princess suite with our little princess. Perfect timing since this will be our last trip to Bali with only one little princess (or prince!). Also, you can check out our VIDEO on Grand Mirage.
About Grand Mirage Bali
The Grand Mirage is located in Nusa Dua, Bali. This is the southern part of Bali and conveniently only about 30 minutes from the airport.
The Grand Mirage is located directly on the beach, but also has three pools and a water park, so you will never be at a loss for fun activities in the water!
There’s also a kids club that we couldn’t keep Liesel away from during our stay. She was obsessed with the trampoline and apparently training for the US Gymnastics team in 2030! We honestly can’t wait to come back when Liesel’s a bit older and can do the kids club on her own (and we can sneak away for more adult time).
What’s new
Since our last visit to Grand Mirage, a lot has changed! They recently completed a huge renovation of the north end of the resort and it’s gorgeous. The new renovation includes redesigned rooms facing the ocean, as well as a brand-new pool and three new restaurants.
Because the new pool is adults-only, we hired a babysitter for an afternoon so we could check it out. It was a win-win; Liesel got to enjoy the kids club for 4 hours as she pleased and we got to enjoy ocean views from the new infinity pool and a grown-up conversation!
The new restaurants are all al fresco dining concepts near the pool area. If you’re craving Italian, there’s Julie’s. Jukung is in the same space and offers up amazing seafood. But our favorite was JJ’s! It was the perfect place for us to hang out in the evenings before dinner with a cocktail!
After relaxing at JJ’s, we would usually stroll over to the dinner buffet at the Rama Live Entertainment. They have a large stage and great entertainment here every night with a different “theme” (e.g., Mexican, BBQ, Seafood, etc)
When choosing a place to stay we always look for
Where we can stock up on kid essentials (diapers and milk)
Where we can get grown up essentials (coffee)
What’s nearby or how do we get around?
Is this place a good value?
We’ve already discussed this in our prior post about Grand Mirage Bali, but here’s a run-down:
Where to find diapers and milk
There is a Coco Mart directly across the street for any grocery needs!
Where to get your caffeine fix:
We loved getting our morning lattes at the breakfast buffet inside Grand Mirage, but there’s also a Starbucks connected to the resort!
Getting around
You definitely won’t need a car here. The resort is ON the beach and across the street are several warungs (restaurants), laundry service and souvenir stands. If you need to go a bit farther, taxis are readily available!
Value
Basic rooms here start around $100 / night and include the breakfast buffet. All inclusive packages can be added on to the room rate for about $220 per day for a family of four.
The bottom line
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation where you never have to leave the resort, Grand Mirage is the place for you. It’s easy to see why this resort is the perfect getaway for a family. It’s a great warm-weather escape that takes all the pressure of planning out of your trip. You honestly just roll out of bed every morning, put on your swimsuit and you’re good to go! But make sure you eat a good breakfast, because as Liesel will tell you, they don’t start serving pool-side ice cream cones until 11 am!
